Videocon Mobile has launched a budget Android handset in the Indian market, dubbed as Videocon A24 it is priced at Rs. 4,699. Videocon A24 runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor and comes with 256MB of RAM.
A24 features a 4-inch capacitive touch screen with WVGA resolution. On the imaging front it has a 3.2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front facing camera. It is a dual SIM phone like many cheap Android devices launched recently. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPRS/Edge, Bluetooth etc., it comes with a 1450mAh battery under the hood to power up the device. The Videocon A24 is available in White Chrome and Black colors.
Commenting on the launch, Khalid Zamir, Videocon Mobile Phones Division said, “With the Videocon A24, we seek to answer to the needs of young consumers and first-time users, who are looking to migrate from a feature phone and immerse themselves in the exciting world of smartphones.”

Recently we are seeing the trend of putting Jelly Bean on 256MB RAM devices, we don’t know yet the performance of these phones as Jelly Bean is not optimized to run on these kind of low end devices. It is also worth nothing that some of the popular Android games won’t be able to run on this kind of budget devices with tiny piece of RAM.
