VLC media player is the popular media player on the desktop and in mobile world also it has lot of fanfare. VLC is so popular because of its support for various media formats. It is not the most shiny media player on the planet but it has a loyal following and it is getting better day by day. If the new change log of VLC is to be believed it is getting even better with the support for Chromecast. VLC has promised earlier that they will support the shiny new dongle from Google, that promise was made in last year June and finally we are going to see the support in the new version of VLC.
A change log posted on a Git repo there is a mention of VLC support for Chromecast on version 3.0. Hopefully VLC 3.0 will be released soon and those waiting for the popular media player support on Chromecast will be happy. There is no concrete release date but hopefully it will out in a few weeks if not months.
The support will come to Android, iOS and desktops. We are not sure which version will be released soon, we are hoping that the Android version will get the support first given the Chromecast roots, or we might see the support in all the platforms once. Whenever VideoLan releases this it will surely make lot of users happy.
