Vodafone India and Twitter joined together to offer free Twitter access for Vodafone prepaid and postpaid customers. The offer is valid for 3 months or 90 days, during this time Vodafone customers can access Twitter for free on the network. You can avail free twitter access using either an Android app or going to mobile.twitter.com.
You can tweet and receive tweets with out incurring data charges under the offer. But if you click and open any external links or images or any multimedia content you will be charged inline with the Vodafone data charges.
It is also not clear why only Android app is supported and not apps on other smartphones. If you own a BlackBerry device then you are out of luck as this offer is not valid for BB phones. Also if you access twitter using mobile site instead of app, you have to use only the default browser, other browsers are not supported.
With all the above said restrictions and conditions it is not worth at all. The offer starts today and you can use till Nov 1st 2013 according to Vodafone.
Airtel recently offered similar deal by partnering with Google, called Freezone it allows users to access Google Search, Gmail and Google+. Telcos are offering these free deals to get users online, so many users with cheap Android handsets don’t have an active data connection and these freebies might entice them to finally go online.
