Microsoft is rumored to release Windows Phone 8 GDR3 (General Distribution Release) later this year. The release is aimed at upcoming devices but it will also include new features for the existing devices. The list of expected features include 1080p display support, and others. The GDR3 release is already in testing and one of the device was picked by a user on Craiglist and he posted some screenshots on WPCentral forums. The release is expected to come with Nokia 1520, a 6-inch phablet running Windows Phone 8.
The screenshots show several features including support for Wi-Fi at the time of reset so that you can use Wi-Fi when restoring from a backup. the screenshots also reveal the Nokia’s Lumia Bittersweet shimmer release. There is a screen rotation lock, now you can set screen orientation and lock.
Apps can be closed from multitasking windows using the X mark in the upper right hand corner. The screenshots also a Driving mode feature which allows users to turn off calls and texts, it can also start automatically when you pair your device with a Bluetooth device. It is expected to include custom sounds for text, voice mail, email and reminders.
