Microsoft has announced the third update for Windows Phone 8 (8.0.10512), we referred earlier this update as GDR3 or General Distribution Release 3 update. This update is in the making since an year and is now available for developers, it will made available for the general public soon. The WP8 update 3 includes some new and important features that include bigger start screen that can now house more live tiles, support 5 or 6-inch devices and support for 1080p display as well.
Bigger and High resolution screens: The new update brings the support for bigger display Windows Phone 8 devices, that means soon you will see phablets running Windows Phone 8. The rumored Nokia Lumia 1520 is a 6-inch device that will come with this update. The Update 3 will also bring the support for full HD resolution screens, you will now see screens with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. The start will accommodate more live tiles now, you can place upto 6 Live tiles on the home screen.
The update also brings support for more powerful hardware, it adds support for Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
Driving Mode allows you to mute all notifications, alerts etc., while you are driving, it works with a connected Bluetooth device to reach your destination with out distractions. You can also automatic replies to calls and texts to let you contacts know that you will get back to them.
This update also includes accessibility features for the blind and visually impaired users. With the screen reader and other tools users can listen to texts, hear notifications etc.
Improved Internet Sharing: The Wi-Fi hotspot feature has received improvements, you can pair your Windows Phone 8 device with your Windows 8 PC via Bluetooth and connect automatically with out entering passwords.
There are other features apart from the above mentioned which include custom ringtones, rotation lock, better storage management, close apps easily with app switcher, connect to Wi-Fi when setting up your phone useful when restoring backup from the cloud, and better Bluetooth.
