Yahoo Search added some useful features today, Yahoo search assist, videos and photos integration in search results. Videos, photos integration is similar to Google’s Universal search, the more striking feature in today’s announcement is the Yahoo search assist.
Search assist offers suggestion for search queries, and shows related topics related to the search term. Its a ajax snippet which appears below the search bar when users hesitate to enter keywords.
Search ‘united nations,’ for example, and the new Search Assist knows that the following concepts are related to your query: general assembly, 1945, league of nations, secretary general, etc. Want to refine your query to explore ‘united nations’ + ‘general assembly’? Just click on the ‘general assembly’ suggestion. You now get a new set of results and new concepts related to ‘united nations general assembly.’ Exploring further is now simply a matter of clicking on new concepts.
Yahoo has integrated multimedia content like videos and flickr images in search results. Videos are embedded in the search pages. These features are really useful for the end users. It’s good to see Yahoo is finally improving its search to compete with Google. It would be interesting to see if Yahoo can eat Google’s search share.

I really like the new embedded music! Of course it’d be better if they were full songs but hey – Beggars can’t be choosers. (#):)

The features are nice but still it will be difficult to beat Google . I hope google too comes out with something like this .

These are good features, but as Madhur said, difficult to beat Google.

I agree that it is difficult to beat Google, but atleast if they can compete in a better way our lives are saved, we don’t have to rely on Google completely
